Mirador Torre (Torre Viewpoint)

About 1 hour into the hike, you’ll reach Mirador Torre, a fantastic lookout point where you’ll catch your rest glimpse of Cerro Torre in the distance. This is a great spot to take a short break, snap some photos, and enjoy the sweeping views of the valley and the Fitz Roy River.

River Crossings and Lenga Forests

As you continue, the trail takes you through dense lenga forests and alongside the Fitz Roy River, providing a tranquil, shaded walk. You’ll cross a few rivers and streams on sturdy wooden bridges, which adds to the experience without being difcult to navigate.

Laguna Torre

After several hours of hiking, you’ll arrive at the magnicent Laguna Torre, a glacial lake surrounded by the rugged peaks of Cerro Torre, Torre Egger, and the Adelas Range. The lagoon is often dotted with oating icebergs that have broken off from the nearby glaciers. You’ll have a full, unobstructed view of Cerro Torre’stowering spire (weather permitting), which is one of the most iconic and dramatic peaks in Patagonia.

Optional: Mirador Maestri

An extra 45-minute walk from the main viewpoint is an additional viewpoint overlooking Glacier Grande, which feeds into Laguna Torre. This side trip is well worth the extra effort to gain an even closer perspective of the glacier and the immense forces shaping the landscape.

Return Journey

After soaking in the views and enjoying your time at Laguna Torre, you’ll head back the way you came. The return journey is primarily downhill, making it an easier walk. The scenery remains spectacular as you retrace your steps through the forests and valleys, and you can take your time enjoying the tranquility of Patagonia.

There are no services along the trail, so bring at least 2 liters of water and enough food for the day.
